Dr. Jyoti Chandiramani

  • Prof Jyoti Chandiramani has more than 35 years of experience in teaching, institution building, administration and research. She was appointed the Dean Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Director of Symbiosis School of Economics in 2010. She has succeeded in effectively steering and focusing the activities at the Symbiosis School of Economics towards creating an agile and dynamic, forward looking institute with talented resources from various fields of economics.

    Over the course of her career she has won numerous accolades including being invited by Niti Aayog as a member of the Working Group on "City Governance and Smart Cities" (2017), invited to the 5th ASEM Rectors’ Conference, as a Mentor for the Students’ Forum (ARC5), organized by Charles University and the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) at Prague (2016), appointed as a member of the Fourth Estate of the Manipur University (2016) and invited as a part of the Indian delegation to Pakistan for the Tenth South Asian Economic Students Meet (SAESM) at Lahore University of Management Sciences (2013). In 2015, Prof. Jyoti was conferred with the iCongo instituted Gold Karmaveer Chakra and Rex Karmaveer Global Fellowship in Delhi, for her contributions to the field of education.

    Prof Jyoti Chandiramani’s research interest lies in the area of urban development and international economic cooperation. Besides writing a number of research papers and a couple of text books on International Trade, she has jointly edited a book with Mr. Ramanath Jha on 'Perspectives in Urban Development: Issues in Infrastructure, Planning and Governance.' Prof. Jyoti has worked on a number of research projects including:

    • Sustainable Development Goals for Rural Maharashtra 2030: Achievements and Constraints with NABARD
    • Rural Development Infrastructure Index for Maharashtra with NABARD
    • Smart Cities of Maharashtra
    • Goa: Urban Governance Index in collaboration with Sulochana Thapar Foundation
    • Congestion Pricing for Mumbai in consultancy with ITDP
